About Essen

Essen is the fourth-largest city in North Rhine–Westphalia with over 580,000 residents.

It covers 210 square kilometers, divided into nine boroughs and 50 districts.

The city’s industrial heritage is showcased at the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex, while its transformation is evident in the large parks and green spaces. The Rüttenscheid district is the main area for restaurants and nightlife, especially along Rüttenscheider Straße. Essen is well connected by proximity to Düsseldorf Airport and uses the euro for currency.
